German annual credit management conference 2013 in Koblenz

„Credit Management as value driver within Working Capital Management“ was the motto of the tenth annual conference of the Bundesverband Credit Management (BvCM e.V.) which took place in Koblenz this year. Overall 570 Credit Managers, entrepreneurs, scientists and sponsors participated in the two-day conference to network and exchange information with others.

First, difficulties of low rates were commented on by the patron of the event, finance minister of Rhineland-Palatinate Dr. Carsten Kühl (SPD). Followed by attorney at law Lutz Paschen, the representative of the BvCM in Berlin, who talked about the current initiatives of the association, the EU Directive on combating late payment in commercial transactions as well as the recently adopted  explanation from well-known trade associations regarding „necessary legislative revisions in the law of avoidance of transactions in insolvency proceedings“. He once more emphasized the unreasonable disadvantage in the case of bankruptcy, which hits cooperative creditors after current law, who assist their debtors in financial problems. Also a survey containing this topic was conducted and met with great response from the members of the BvCM. Results will be published shortly.

The second day continued as usual with expert workshops. In addition to the main topic, they were concerned with i.e. questions about compliance, international Credit Management and insolvency practice. Attorney at Law Michael Schmidt, who is jointly responsible for the working committee for insolvency practice, showed the interested participants of his lecture, to what extent is „The reformed consumer insolvency proceedings – actually reform or just a cosmetic change? “.

All in all members and visitors reviewed the conference highly positively – especially the possibility to talk to their Credit Management colleagues.
