PASCHEN’s annual meeting on the sunny island Mallorca
If you need to relax and unwind, you can fly to Mallorca. But also this favourite holiday island of the Germans was the perfect destination for the chance to upskill, exchange ideas and plan for the coming year during the annual PASCHEN meeting. Employees of the law firm from all offices swapped the wet and cold winter weather at home for two days of Mediterranean sun and fresh sea air at the end of November. A short break from normal working life in a relaxed atmosphere, although nobody was idle during this time.
In numerous lectures, current legal topics and challenges faced in the day-to-day work of the law firm were highlighted. Particularly in focus was the special electronic lawyers’ mailbox (beA) which is already used regularly by PASCHEN and from 01.01.2020 will be exclusively used, if actions and writs are dispatched to the court. How internal workflows can be optimized and standardized was discussed in detail in workshops with the results then presented to the entire team.
The IT department of PASCHEN reported on its current projects. Two major innovations are planned for 2020: A complex relaunch is planned for the client portal debit.control, and the document management software ELO will be extensively updated.
In addition to the business part of the conference, there was also enough time for the attendees to socialize and interact. A huge surprise was the workshop with SANDUNGUEROS, a Mallorcan samba drummer group, who treated us to a small sample of their skills before passing the instruments on to the PASCHEN team, probably the world’s first “law firm samba group” to demonstrate such rhythm and beat! Then there was a short visit to the saltworks at Flor de Sal d’es Trenc where high-quality Mallorcan salt, popular with celebrity chefs, is extracted, offering an opportunity to purchase the first Christmas presents in the local shop. The huge snow-white salt mountains and 140 salt basins on the 170-hectare site of Salinas Levante were just as fascinating as the subsequent taste test of the various types of salt.
And so, in the end, everyone a little reluctantly boarded the plane back home. A small consolation is the prospect of the next meeting in the coming year, especially for those who had to keep the business running back home this time.
