Trade in Germany and Europe – Success: Meeting in Wuxi, China
Sinosure China Export & Credit Insurance extended an invitation to another meeting at the Kempinski Hotel Wuxi on 8 December 2010 – a follow up to a very successful Kick-Off Meeting held in Xiamen in 2009. One hundred-fifty Chinese participants from various local companies observed guest lecturer, attorney at law Kai Engelsberg of PASCHEN Rechtsanwälte Berlin, giving a lecture on “Trade in Germany and Europe – Trade and Contract Risks after the Financial Crisis”.
With 3,000 years of history, Wuxi is one of the leading business areas in eastern China. With 4.4 million inhabitants the city is also known as “Little Shanghai”. As the first city of the Jiangsu province, Wuxi opened an industrial area for foreign investors. Currently Wuxi is well known as a centre for textile manufacturing but there are projects to move to electric motor manufacturing and software development. In addition to this, most recently there has been a movement toward China’s solar city with two big solar companies (STP and JHL) listed on overseas exchanges. Japanese Enterprises especially such as Sony, Minolta, Panasonic and Agfa employ Wuxi factories.
Jiang Jiang, Head of Sinosure China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation Jiangsu Branch and Xu Xiaowei, WuXi Office warmly welcomed guests along with speaker attorney at law Kai Engelsbergof PASCHEN Rechtsanwälte. As experienced legal claim management partner for Chinese companies and insurers for many years, PASCHEN was invited to deliver a three hour lecture on “Trade in Germany and Europe – Trade and Contract Risks after the Financial Crisis”. First attorney at law Kai Engelsberg presented the current state of affairs to the 150 participants in the context of the ongoing economic development within the European Union. During the course of the lecture he defined important aspects of drafting international contracts as well as possible risks and legal means of dealing with defaults.
